The refurbishment of homes and buildings is one of the greatest challenges of the future. The majority of our existing building stock requires some level of retrofit to enable us to live and work more sustainably. Whether your motivation for a home retrofit is to reduce energy use and fuel bills, stop climate change, improve comfort or appearance of your property, the interest in retrofit is growing. The Climate Action Plan sets out targets for Net Zero Emissions from buildings by 2050 in Ireland. The plan also outlines ambitious targets to improve the energy efficiency of the Irish housing stock, retrofitting 500,000 homes to at least a Building Energy Rating, (BER) of B2, over the next 8 years. Under the new Part L, (Conservation of Fuel and Power) of the 2019 building regulations, deep renovations and refurbishment that exceed 25% of the total surface area of the building’s envelope must now be upgraded to reach a B2 BER.
There are also a number of attractive grants available for home retrofit. These are administered through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Irelands, (SEAI).
Whatever your motivation for a home retrofit we can help you to achieve your goals
